your car is actually the predacessor to T5 it is T5.2 go to http://www.car-part.com & put in your vehicle info you will find a ECU cheap there :-)
basically with the key on & the engine running if you use a test light & bridge the center wire on the plug to first one outer & then the other a good ECU will verry faintly light up on one side & not at all on the other if it lights up bright on either the ECU is bad or you have a short to ground in the harness
