Quality aftermarket pistons have come so far down in price in the last few years you can sometimes find them cheaper than a set of OE ones.
The important thing when installing a forged 'performance' piston is that the cylinder bore tolerance is accurate, so you will need to have the machine work done at a trustable machine shop who is willing to stand behind their work.
Alternatively if it's just a transportation car, if your cylinder bore isn't scored or scraped up from cracked piston and rings you could always just replace it with a used one to get the car back on the road rather than pulling the whole engine out of the car.
(lots of opinions out there on that last repair - I have lots of customers strapped for cash where that was their only realistic option, and the car does run, but they know they can't flog it.)
Also get your air mass meter checked, and make sure there are no air leaks in the intake anywhere, the piston may have let go for some other reason than it's just poorly designed, because they're not actually that poorly designed, they just weren't built to take the kind of power that people we expecting to throw at a SAAB 4-cyl compared to the older cars.
