i rebuilt a 2.0L T engine Posted by Saabu [Email] (#1133) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabu) on Thu, 22 Nov 2012 05:57:59 In Reply to: Looking for advice on ground up rebuild, BT, Wed, 21 Nov 2012 22:08:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
from bearings up. plastigaged but all was well. block cylinder wear was virtually zero. putting pistons can be a 2 person job - one to ensure con rod is going to sit onto crankshaft correctly, one to smack piston down into motor. con rod will move laterally on wrist pin so take care ensuring no jam-up there.
lube up the piston ring compressor with engine oil to help friction there. stagger piston ring gaps. use special thick engine reassembly grease everywhere else. dont forget to replace oil pick-up o-ring. they are very specialized - very thick for such a small diameter. of course crank motor for some time to circulate oil with no fuel pump fuse in or coil wire disconnected.
i dont recall an oil control ring....where is that puppy?
