what about the variables such as ambient temp, heat soaked IC, etc. I can see that the MBC would work well on a modified saab to about 15psi, but I would worry about setting it, even on a dyno, to say 20psi. My modified 9000 with a t3/T4 peaks at 22psi, fades to 18psi at max rpm, EXCATLY what I want in a daily driver. I have an agressive timing curve, and rarely have any APC cutback, except on extremely hot days in tyhe mountains running through the gears at max psi at high rpm....once in a while in 3rd gear I'll get a waiver from (actual) knock.
with 300K I've never had an issue with the knock sensor picking up drivetrain noise(?), clutch rattle, lifter noise, timing chain or the like. I guess if teh engine really gets tired this may be an issue?
