Id recap & conclude by saying.... Posted by jak [Email] (#195) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jak) on Sun, 1 Aug 2004 18:19:32 In Reply to: Re: Ive seen on several ocaisions, steveC, Sun, 1 Aug 2004 18:02:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
a properly set up engine IE:IC,turbo, exhaust, water injection, proper timing & fueling
using an MBC would yield good & stable boost
Id say the same for the APC setup & also eliminating mechanical noise & reducing sensativity for higher than stock power
I would also say that if one cant produce stable boost with an APC that they need to adress the issues mentioned above because putting on an MBC to force stabilized boost will be destructive to the engine & cost more than just seting it up corectly to begin with using an APC
I had an engine in my car when I first got it that I think had a blown HG at some point & was driven with coolant in the oil because the main & rod bearings were pretty badly delaminated & the engine had bottom end noise the APC is probably the only thing that kept that engine together
so I think APCs are useful
us saabers are the only turbo guys using knock sensing boost limiting electronic boost controllers (APCs) & that everyone else spends more time & $$ on proper setup to avoid engine failure whereas we rely on our APCs to save our engine
Im not taking sides in this debate just trying to paint a clear picture of the details involved
take care
JAK
