I always plan on cleaning and coating the fuel tank and replacing the steel fuel line from the from to the rear of the car. On Sonetts I cut off eight inches or so of the fuel line and fitting at the tank. I clean the eight inch piece, connect it to the new steel line with fuel hose and double clamps. It is helpful if the engine is out and the nose is off but you can replace the fuel line with the engine in and the nose off. Install the double fuel filters and clean the carb bowl. This will put an end to your fuel problems unless the carb is already plugged internally.
