It just gets better and better.
My father and I found a variety of decent wires, and stuffed them down the line, fuel pump side, towards the gas tank. Stopped around a foot or so from the tank (like I told him it probably would).
So we forced (and that's putting it nicely) the flexible fuel line behind the passenger seat out where we could stick something down it, instead of working in the swiss cheese grill.
That expletive was mother-flagging clogged like you wouldn't believe. About 6 inches. We forced (again, that's putting it nicely) a straightened-out clothes hanger down the line, twisting, trying to get it out. After a few tries, we went back to the compressed air. Kapow! Other Batman noises! That stuff came flyin out.
Now, after having whooped the problems butt, we got cocky.
We attach the coat hanger to a drill. Yeah. This is all at 1am the day we are leaving on a 11 hour ride to NC. I'm plugging the gas tank with my finger, holding the drill with my other hand, and a flashlight is clamped in my mouth. What could go wrong?
Long story short, half of the hanger broke off in the fuel line. :P
Since air was flowing freely through the line, we decided to ignore it. We could fix it later. So we re-bent the fuel line to fit in the gas tank again. Except that's a damned hard thing to do. After failing to siphon, pump, suction, and drain the gas tank, we just went ahead and tried to connect the fuel line while some rags sopped up the gas.
After many tries, and a gallon or so lost (sounds like a little, burns yours hands like a lot), and 2am ticking around, we just gave the heck up. Sawed the end of the fuel line off, connected a hose to it and blocked it off.
Now, a few states south, I just hope the blockage doesn't seep. The good news is that we can just saw off the part of the hose that has the coat hanger in it. That's good, since it was sludged-up anyway. Then we buy some more fuel line, and hopefully the car runs!
I could write a novel. I'll spare you, I promise.
