Very interesting post. I am also fairly new here, having bought a '71 Sonett III from the Sonett ads here back in September. The prior owner did the large majority of the restoration work.
Since getting it home (a 4+ hour drive from my house), I have replaced the battery and tires (which were known when I bought it), but since then, it has developed an issue with either a sticky freewheel or shift linkage adjustment that has me reluctant to take it out until I get that resolved. (Too busy on the weekends recently and/or too cold to have the time to pin down the exact problem.) Once I get that addressed, there is a very slow leak apparently in one of the weld joints on the radiator which I will need to get addressed once I can drive it across town to a radiator shop that was recommended as doing good work on classic cars.
But, like you, I am having fun learning about how to fix and maintain a Sonett. It is aptly named because so far, everyone who sees it says, "Wow! That is really cool! (or...So neat!)" This board is the best source of information...with pointers to the other good sources.
