...you could park it in my driveway where I'd be glad to take it for a spin once in a while on roads where the highway department doesn't stupidly dump salt in the false belief that it makes driving conditions better in the winter.
Getting serious though, DO NOT cover it with a plastic tarp. Car covers are designed to breath so they don't hold moisture in. Plastic tarps do not breath, so they do hold moisture in and make the rust worse. If you have to park it where it's on grass, put a tarp on the ground and make sure it's on enough of a slope that the water will not stand on the tarp. That's no better than putting it on wet ground. If you can get one of those portable shelters with a pipe frame and put that over the car, that works well. My neighbor has one of those. Home Depot carries them.
