Brake indicatior light in dash...weird behavior..

When driving my '72, the brake warning light will go on and off for no apparent reason. The dealer did an inspection pre-purchase and said the brakes, front and back, are good. There does not appear to be any leaks in the brake lines either and the brake fluid reservor is full.
The light does not come on only when applying the brakes, but at any time while driving the car and usually shuts off within a short time after lighting up. Does anyone know what else I should be looking for. I cannot see any reason for it to light up unless it is just faulty. The manual says something about the pedal travel and how if it gets to great then it will light up. However, if the brakes are in good order then I would assume the pedal travel would be where it is supposed to be.
Any ideas. I would like to figure it out before me and the '72 take a long (800 mile) trip to Minnesota next month. Thanks
Tyler
