Practice. (grin)

Not sure really what you mean by "tightening" up the gate. If you're looking for a shorter throw, I would doubt it as rare as these cars are aftermarket performance parts would be a strange thing to find, but someone with serious fabrication ability might be able to create something.

>And will a sway bar help?

Yep. It will help to keep the car from rolling so much. Trick is, you'll have to find someone with a bit of experience setting up these cars for handling - and there's not too many of us out there who are willing to flog our cars in competition. I've seen a couple web sites for folks racing these cars...you might try to get a hold of some of them to see what they've done.

You don't just want to start slapping sway bars on a car - especially one like the Sonett that is so, um, geometrically interesting. From my experience setting-up other race cars, I'd expect a rather large rear bar with a small front one...the rear one to induce some oversteer and the front one just to counterract roll. However, with the real short wheelbase of this car, the rear bar may not need to be as large as my gut tells me it should be - anyone out there with experience on this? My car is still in restoration mode and I've yet to drive one...

One of the biggest helpers in going fast at Solo II is the tires. You want as much sticky rubber on the road as you can get. Best option would be to get some wider wheels so you can get some more serious rubber under you.

Check the rules, though - I suspect you want to remain in the stock class...there are only so many changes you can make before being bumped into the prepared classes.

Good luck! Solo II is a blast...it was my route into club racing - though I'll still go back and scare a few cones now and then.
