Pulling rear hub

Starting the R&R on my rear brake system and am wanting to pull the hub to check the bearings and repack or repair them as needed. My shop manual shows a nifty hub puller for the job...the only one I've found that appears to be made to do the same thing is at JC Whitney and even for them, it isn't cheap thanks to the 7" diameter of those lugs on the Sonett. Anyone in the Houston, TX area have a puller they'd be able to lend or have ideas for making one?
