I've seen the new Consumer Report on the 9-3. With the exception of a black or half-black circle for electrical, the others were white (average), half red (above average), or red (top rating). These good ratings all washed down the drain to CR not recommending the car, all for problems with electrical. Doesn't make sense to me. If anyone can illuminate the CR rating process, please do so.
I have a 03 Arc. Absolutely love the car. With the exception of needing to update the Onstar software, I have had no electrical issues.
I have had some other issues, including squealing brakes, difficulty shifting from first to second gear, and a sun roof which wouldn't always close at first attempt. They were all quickly and easily repaired.
So, while a Honda or Toyota may not have these limited problems, the joy of the car makes it all worth while. It's a car with style, is not a dime a dozen on the highways, and is a blast to drive. Forget CR, this is a solid vehicle.
