ve been a thule fan since the late 70's when they first came into the states. I even worked for them at one time. Assuming you are the owner of a 9-3 or the like. My suggestion is to buy the dealer supplied rack- that will insert into a set of holes -directly into you car's roof/frame that is conveniantly located under the rubber strip in you door frame. Why- well it's made by thule and will accept all thule product. Also the rack it self can be had for under $100 at the dealer. what else? well it doesn't come in contact with your body paint, it dsoesn't need locks, it can hold the bike carriers, the evolution boxes and everything else. It also has the same maximum load rewuirerments like the other Thule systems. But we would never ever excede that would we? Of course not.
Thats my suggestion and over 3 decades of proof.
