if you keep it on all the time....... Posted by Adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Adam) on Sun, 13 Mar 2005 16:53:31 In Reply to: ditto, kaslop, Sun, 13 Mar 2005 15:21:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
now depending on which 9-3 you have, you have a couple things to consider. I have a 2000, and when it came time to put the rack on I did some research.
With the Saab rack, the bars don't go far enough for the older style fairing to reach your windshield. I keep my rack on year round, bikes and kayaks in summer, and skis in winter. As you may know, the racks can be pretty loud, therefore the fairing was necessary for me.
With that said, I used the regualar thule towers, with the right fit kit. The fit kit has the pegs that fit into the holes under the door seal, but since it just uses one of the holes, you can set the rack forward so that the fairing reaches the windshield.
I also think that the new fairings supposedly don't scratch the roof, but I happen to like the look of the older ones anyway.
If you use what you have, just be sure to clean the roof where the feet sit really well. Otherwise, as long as the racks don't slide around at all (no reason why they would) you shouldn't scratch anything.
Happy racking.
