I've had a 2004 9-3 convertible for 14 months and it just passed 14,000 miles. I've had no service other than a visit to the dealer to adjust the ACC settings and replace the transponders in the remotes (for a known problem). I rotated the tires at 7648 miles, at a service station. It cost $15. The SID still estimates my oil quality at about 10%. (The days remaining figure (about 230 days) is absurd and assumes very little driving; I have no idea where it comes up with that.)
The dealer agreed to perform the free 15k service a bit early (it'll probably be at about 14,200) since I'm going on a 2000 mile road trip soon.
I agree with the numerous posts that it feels extremely weird not to change the oil every 3000 miles. I did that faithfully with all my cars for 21 years before I got the 9-3.
