Not sure about getting unbiased opinions here! I have owned 2 Hondas and their engines seemed bulletproof, but I still like my 91 900 and my wife's 99 9-5 SE; I never had a relationship with my Hondas. The Saab will mostly likely grow on you; for some reason they are just quirky enough yet so fun to drive. Resale value is a consideration if you end up not liking it or you have a tendency to turn over your cars frequently. I think the Saabs are a potential great used car buy if you are careful choosing. I don't know if you can beat the 32.5K price, but the saabusa page now has the 06 pricing for Eur. Del.,which I will be doing on an 06 2.0t early next year. This is such a great deal, even if I *hate* the car (doubtful) I am somewhat cushioned against the depreciation. This car is incredibly safe, handles well, and even the 2.0t scoots. Dashboard stuff I put at noise level, but I would agree it's a bit button heavy for my taste. Ever since I wrecked my left knee, I knew the next car would be auto, and I was quite pleased with the Sentronic when I test drove. Most of the Japanese styling I find boring or just goofy, but I think the 9-3 looks pretty tasteful, even classic. I don't expect people to turn their heads, that's for sure. Of course, I have the old 900 for those conversational purposes...;^)
Your cons on the 9-3 seem minor to me. Take it for another drive and think about how much safer it is in the bargain...
