I heard that the 2006 model year was reduced to 10,000 mi maximum (and possibly 1 year) with the excuse that other items needed checking because if the dealer were sloppy and only checked the oil, the systems wouldn't be checked for 30,000 mi (2nd visit). THis way, they get checked at 20,000 mi if they were overlooked at 10,000 mi.

It sounds plausible that the oil % drops suddenly near 15,000 mi.

The dealer did not reset my oil indicator because I did not bring the car for service other than a Tech II change during the first week or two. (That's reliability!)

As far as changing the oil, I chickened out and changed it myself once because I didn't trust the oil lasting 15,000 mi, especially in a new car with potential metal shaving floating around after the break-in period.
