Impressions on a new 9-3 Aero...longish Posted by gizmo [Email] (#1001) [Profile/Gallery] (more from gizmo) on Mon, 23 Jul 2007 05:52:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Picked up my third Saab on Saturday. 07' Titan Grey 9-3 Aero auto, coldweather package, Onstar. I paid 30.2k plus taxes and tags after 4k rebate and 1k customer loyalty. First impressions are WOW!. Still have my 00 9-3 SE HOT and the difference in pull is quite different with the 6 cylinder. Like the OG 9-3 the engine has huge low end torque but the delivery and tubo kick is not as raw as it is in the OG 9-3 and any tubo lag issues seem to be gone. Great looking car, nice seats, a lot more buttons to deal with but I must be getting old and my kids will figure it all out for me!. Car feels very solid (heavy?) sort of like the large BMW's I've driven on occasion. Great exhaust note. Sticky Conti tires on 17 inch rims and it corners very well with very little body roll by comparison. Had to get an auto so everyone can drive it and I'm still trying to get the proper shift points when using the tiptronic aspect of the auto but its the first time I've ever used one. Only complaint is the silver trim around the dashboard that casts a reflection onto the windshield..very obnoxious on a sunny day so I'll be looking at how to deal with that. Thought I'd miss the hatch but the trunk/storage seems about the same. XM/6 CD disc Bose system really needs to be tweaked with the EQ depending on what the source is. Like other XM products Ive listenened to the quality can be a bit flat compared to FM/CD/MP3 inputs but that varies quite a bit form channel to channel. Took a nice 30 mile country/HWY trip this week just around dusk...came out of the car with a big smile...man its a fun car to drive...and a great value for the money. Will have to dig around the engine bay this week and see whats where but at first glance it looks like I'm going to need some smaller hands but then again I dont need to deal with that for another 50k.
