In my '03 9-3 Arc, my battery lasted from 9/03 until 01/06. It started the car perfectly with no hesitation, all the way up to that evening in 01/06 when it left me sitting in my office parking lot. I would say to make the preemptive strike and replace it before it leaves you stranded God knows where (I was lucky). Also, then it is one less thing you have sweat over- watching every single thing the flatbed driver does when pulling your car onto the truck. My guy was just someone at a local garage who Saab Roadside Assistance woke up in the middle of the night. Sometimes people think these will be Saab specialists, but they are just local shops under contract with Saab Roadside Assistance (and probably AAA, etc.).

I tried jumping the car first after pulling all the audio system fuses (still wouldn't start) so I made the Roadside Assistance call later that night. Luckily the ground was wet, since he pulled my car a few inches with the hand brake still engaged until I yelled to stop. This after he got into the car to make sure the manual trans was in neutral...

So once again, *yes* please change your OEM battery. :^) Save that flatbed trip for something worthwhile, and hopefully you'll never need it. Vector and Aero owners would especially want to try and avoid the flatbed as these guys always seem to have problems with low front spoilers.
