Saab-less for about 4 months since selling my 9000T,after 20 yrs of owning various Saabs.I miss the rush and overall driving experience, but not the ill feeling of wondering when the next breakdown will be. Shopping for my next sports sedan, but slim chance it will be another Saab. My S/O took a chance on her first of the brand with a 9-3 Linear.Despite my warnings of " their nice when theyre running right" ..she had the faith. 75K and two clutch pedal return spring repairs,(plastic clutch pedal? what?)some electrical gremlins and now a balance chain guide failing has erroded our faith in Saab anymore. There is no reason, none, that she or anyone else should have deal with this type of nonsense in a car with this little mileage. Does she have to be concerned with the bits of metal found in the oilpan from this failure? Who knows? It's CPO, so the only cost is the gas and time in and out of the shop, but that in itself is unacceptable. Her "beater" Honda Accord with 260K has had ZERO major repairs, same clutch, engine never opened, same trans, only repairs were brakes, exhaust, belts or hoses etc...not the constant flow of crapola from these cars, serp belt tensioners, idler pulleys, crank pulleys, motor mounts, flex pipes due to motor mounts, and on and on. Hey, when will Saab decide to source a new supplier for the hood badges that fail every other year to the tune of 35+ dollars each? Even my freinds 9-2x badge is silver now. Theres a '07 Combi online with a nice silver badge in the photo..a yr old car ? Unacceptable engineering flaws and quality issues not corrected over years and years of making the same mistakes, what other things have the folks at Saab overlooked or deem acceptable to fail prematurely? Very sad for anyone who would like to stay loyal to the brand, sorry, ive had enough of knowing for a fact that there is a very good chance after buying a Saab that ill be shelling out at least 1500-2000 per yr on average for a timeline of expected repairs and developing a closer relationship with my mechanic and rental car companies that I would ever want to. Inexusable and embarassing Saab.
