Hi all, I'm new to this forum but not to Saabs in sept. I picked up my 11th Saab from Andrews Inc. an '06 Sport Combi. Over the years I've owned 5 99s, 2 classic 900s and a couple of 9000s. I've lost more Saabs in divorces than most people have owned;-)

All was going well with the new ride until the weather here in MN turned cold. All of my washers, headlight, windshield and rear window all quit working. I figure I must be out of washer fluid, I pick up a gallon and pour the whole thing in the reservoir, fills it right up to the top. I pull the washer stalk waiting for fluid to squirt out but nothing. After a few minutes of trying the wipers quit. The wipers will still work in the normal wipe positions but not when pulling on the stalk for the washers. I check fuses and find that 2 of the 3 washer fuses are blown. I replace the windshield washer fuse and try again, wipers work but still not fluid then the fuse finally blows and the wipers quit. At this point I'm thinking that the washer fluid reservoir or washer motors have frozen fluid in them. I haven't had the car long enough to put in any washer fluid before I bought this gallon after the problem started. Possibly the previous owner put straight water in the reservoir. Saturday I'll be putting the car in a neighbor's heated garage for a few hours to hopefully thaw things out.

A couple of questions;

Do you think I'm on the right track?

Where is the washer motor or motors located? I haven't gotten a shop manual yet.

Speaking of shop manuals, which ones are worth owning and where's a good place to purchase them. I know that's 3 questions ;-)

Thanks

Rick
