Try a 9-3SS with the 5 speed auto. The slap shifter works pretty well. What I really like about the 9-3SS set up is the slap shifter, easy to use and intuitive as my shift brain is wired to my hand and arm on the shifter and not to my fingers on steering wheel paddles. And a 9-3SS auto holds the gear it's in and won't upshift, so if you're hot footing through a 2nd gear corner you'll stay in 2nd gear when you get up towards the redline. In a 9-5 the auto when in manual mode will upshift at redline so you wind up in too high of a gear at corner exit.
If Saab would just add rev-matching downshift software it would be even more ideal, but it's not a deal killer.
