9-3 newbie questions

Hi everyone,
I just bought an 2006 9-3 (V6 version), and have a list of newbie questions that I am sure are answered somewhere buried in this form, but was hoping someone would graciously humour me, saving me the digging. (Or otherwise feel free to tell me to RTFM ;) ).
It has 72,000 KM, has (ostensibly) full service records, and is under warranty until 80K.
1) I understand the car will alert me for the next maintenance cycle. How does this work, is there a way to see a "count-down", and once it alerts me, how long do I have to take it in?
2) Should I get it serviced immediately anyways, and if so, what should I get done? I assume this will not be covered under the warranty.
3) When I drive it first thing in the morning, the rear breaks growl the first few times I use them. I understand a small layer of rust can build up but never experienced this after a single night. Any comment?
4) After driving and turning off the car, it makes creaking noises for about 5-10 minutes that are initially loud but slow in frequency and eventually fade away. Any comment?
5) Can anyone recommend a good set of snow tires? I live in Ontario and we get a fair amount of snow.
6) I am concerned about the ground-clearance of the front of the car and how it sturdy it would be to drive on a snow-covered, unploughed road. Any comment?
