How did I cause these codes? EVAP, MAF, etc

So I had code P0496 pop up the other day. I followed the how-to thread and replaced the EVAP purge solenoid. I used a different GM part number even though it appeared to be the same (and came from a Cobalt and Cadillac 2.8.)
As soon as I started the car back up I immediately got a check engine light and STABILITY SYSTEM FAILURE and TRACTION CONTROL FAILURE. I swapped back and forth between the two EVAP purge solenoids a few times just to make sure that the new one wasn't causing the problems. The CEL light would go off and then come back on once the ignition was cycled a couple of times.
I left it on a tecmate optimate 4 battery maintainer overnight thinking that maybe the battery was on the way out. (Maybe .8 amp/12 hours wasn't enough?)
I just pulled the codes and got P0103, P2281 and P0496.
P0103 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit High Input
P2281 - Air Leak Between MAF and Throttle Body
P0496 - EVAP EMMISIONS SYSTEMS HIGH PURGE FLOW
I cleared the codes and only P0103 and P0496 are now coming back. I already know what P0496 is...
The car seems slightly sluggish and considerably slower than it was before. The boost gauge only goes to the half way point where it used to go to the red before.
So the question is -- what did I break or where do I start to diagnose this?
