I thought it was 150w front and 150w in the back for 300w total. I have a 2003 9-3 Arc with that system and you're right, you can't get much of anything from the back. I remember a thread a long time ago from one of the Saab audio engineers and they said the system was tuned for a front and center sound stage, with the rear only providing some ambiance. Even if you adjust the fader to emphasize the rear of system it never sounds as good as it does with the fader in the middle. If you fade toward the rear and adjust the EQ to taste then the front doesn't sound right. I gave up years ago and just accepted it, and the factory setup doesn't sound too bad when playing remastered cd's (I listen to mostly classic rock). There have been people in the past who have made elaborate mods to the factory system and I seem to recall they installed some component which restored balance to the front and rear of the system. They would typically add a subwoofer as well as upgrading all of the factory speakers. Since the system runs on fiber optics of course you have to be careful making mods. I recall reading of people cutting wires thinking they were copper when they were actually fiber.
