That is pretty much what I mean. But,
When I checked key status It said "1 key accepted". No mention of any other key positions open or if they had been previously coded or not (is there a way to see this? for verification)
I was told that the dealer had attempted to add a spare key previously, so they may have over-written the CIM's original key status (thus deleting the information that i wanted to know).
From reading the WIS, what I understand is: one can marry a used CIM, but can only add NEW key/s if it still has open key code positions. Typically it should have 3 empty key code positions if no keys have ever been added. AND you absolutely need to have a key from that CIM in able to marry it and add additional keys. In other words: you get to use the keys from the used CIM. BUT, once the CIM key code positions are full they are full and can not be reset.
Anders,
Were you able to add/marry a CIM without an original key?
