Wow. I was not trying to turn this into a philosophical debate.
I have been driving the 97 Talladaga since 2001. No roll-over protection. Have not rolled the car once. I have seen the IIHS and NHTSA tests for the 2007 and no rollover there either.
I chose to buy the safest vert on the market to replace my 97 BUT if the car gets side-swiped the rollover bars deploy. (Same happens in a frontal collision but at that point you are thrown forward).
This is an exceedingly low risk proposition for everyone as the chances to roll upsidedown in a 15 minute city drive is ridiculously low; but the chances to be t-boned are still present. The risks of her being injured then for no good reason would be very high. (She does wear a harness designed to loop in with the seat belts).
Thus without being too dramatic I am asking if it's technically possible to disable this feature, please. The feature would be re-enabled when she is not in the car.
