Hello,
I really think it is not possible to disable the roll over bars without disabling the entire system. If you unplugged them the airbag light would be on and they are very cryptic about airbag functionality when the light is illuminated. I believe they always say some items may work but may not work either. As far as putting some switch to connect or disconnect the switch it would have to have almost no resistance added to the circuit when connected or the airbag light would illuminate.
I would not recommend or perform any modification of any ones airbag system myself.
I guess philosophically speaking I could only think of a permanent disable that would still allow other functionality of the airbag system. That would be to remove the activation units for the roll bar leaving them plugged in and mount them close to the area they are suppose to be but place them so they would not release the bar. Ofcourse depending were you fitted them they might just blow a hole in the back seat which would not accomplish the goal of protecting your dog. Good Luck, Bernie
