I ran into this a couple of years ago. from winters up north it was very brittle. I scrapped off the rubber and underneath is a stainless frame. I just scraped off the rubber and left the the stainless frame around the edge. It does not have a corner bend but it is close it is not that bad looking. try it first there is no fear of leaking because the rear window is set in urethane, you have the stainless trim on your model on the trunk so it really ties in well. besides that piece is put on the window before installation I don't think there is enough clearance to remove it and replace it without pulling the window.
