9-3SC in tbe shop, a very rare occasion Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 8 Aug 2016 14:24:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Who would have guessed the belt tensioner on the 2.0T engine can only be changed from a hoist. The Tech says that the easiest way to change this part also involves removal of the crankshaft pulley.
I know it can be done off jackstands once the whole front end is lifted, and the crank pulley is an option rather than requirement, but it still seems excessive.
I don't own a Jack that can lift the full front end, and there is no way I will try this job with one corner of the car on a jack!
The car is actually in the shop for replacement of the fuel level sender. The belt and tensioner are both "Oh, by the way" items that I have tried and failed to D-I-Y.
