a tune will only result in additional fuel efficiency if you take advantage of:
1) the ignition timing is pushed further into the knock margin.
2) the high load fuel enrichment is reduced while using a wideband o2 sensor (again, reducing knock margin)
2) the knowledge that the owner will ONLY put high octane premium gas in the car.
most of the time, "tuned" fuel efficiency gains are due to simultaneous mechanical modifications (such as reducing intake/exhaust restrictions) that will have a more profound effect than tuning only.
