Most people don't apply that much pressure on the brake pedal and won't feel it since during normal driving and standing still, it feels normal.
My response was aimed at Rick C who have some kind of problem with the brakes, normal or not.
We are taught that brake pedal is suppose to be firm but as in the 9-3, you can slowly push the pedal to the floor (or almost to the floor)if you lay into it while idling.
Just tested it yesterday when I drove a couple of cars into the shop.
You first have the normal resistance and pedal position where the car stops and stand still and then you can slowly push harder and the pedal goes deeper and deeper down.
