'06 9-3 Sunroof Issue Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 5 Apr 2019 14:08:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
First really nice day of the Spring and my wife attempted to open her sunroof on the drive home.
I don't know if she slid the switch rearwards as she intended or if she pushed upwards on the switch. Regardless, the rear of the sunroof lifted as for ventilation. However, the passenger side only lifted half as much as the driver's side. My wife could not get the sunroof to open or close after this point.
I got home and I couldn't get the sunroof to operate correctly to either open or close. I read in the Owner's Manual about the anti-pinch protection so I held down the window lock button.
The sunroof closed, but now the passenger side is about 3/4-inch too low while the driver's side is at the correct height. My wife watched from outside the car and said the glass is closing erratically, one side then the other rather than a smooth consistent motion.
So now what? I can use heavy plastic and duct-tape to keep the roof weather tight but would much rather fix this issue. Is there a broken wheel or roller somewhere? A broken linkage arm? A severed operating cable?
We felt all around the expanding bellows gasket and did not feel any obstruction. There is a clicking sound from the motor area when the motor attempts to operate without using the window lock button to bypass the anti-pinch controls.
Thanks!
