Inner Drive Shaft Boot Replacement - How hard?

Car is a 2005 Arc 2.0L 5 speed and needs both inner drive shaft boots replaced.
I've done this on a C900 but always had trouble getting the bearing off without a press, to replace the boot. How unpleasant is this on a 9-3SS?
It sounds like you just pull on the shafts to get it out of the snap ring on both sides and lose a lot of transmission oil in the process on the LHS.
Does anyone have experience of how hard it is to get the bearing off once the clip is removed?
There is no vibration or noise so I am hoping to keep the existing bearing.
Thanks!
