Are you having an issue with a stability control fault popping up? If the front end alignment's off, or has been reset, one may need to have the yaw sensor re-calibrated with a Tech2. If it keeps coming back after resetting with Tech2 and the front end alignment is all right, then yes, the yaw sensor is suspect.
The yaw sensor is part of the CIM (column integration module); the sensor is gear-driven by the clock spring portion of the CIM. While they're not supposed to be serviceable, one can substitute a yaw sensor from a dead CIM and swap it into your original CIM, after carefully removing the driver side airbag, the CIM, then disassembling the CIM. Installation is the reverse, mostly.
Underneath the console is the airbag control module (ACM), which has is own sensors/accelerometer, etc., but doesn't have anything to do with the stability control system.
Hope this helps!
