Hello,
My first thoughts would be to check very carefully the hoses going to and from the intercooler. I guess the MAF hose to the turbo and maybe the brake booster pipes. Usually a surge like that is a crack in a hose between something attached to the body and the engine. The normal motor mount movement of putting it in reverse opens the crack. Good Luck, Bernie
