2007 9-3 Sport Combi 2.0T with 169k miles.
I got a check engine light after grocery shopping. Had to get home from the store in "limp home" mode which is pretty tough in city traffic. At home, the code reader said "P0638 confirmed".
After reading up on Saabnet and Saab Central, I was feeling like 20% chance of TB issue and 80% chance of PCM failure.
Luckily, there was a 2007 9-3 Convertible in a pick-and-pull near me (a self-service wrecking yard). For $77 I had a used throttle body. New ones are available, but cost $650-700!
Removal and installation is easy...right at the front of the motor. I performed the calibration called out above by Rich02881 (THANK YOU) and drove the a car for about 10 more trips over 3 days. It seems totally OK again!
Note 1: my intercooler-to-TB rubber pipe was stress cracked & 13 years old, so I ordered this replacement for $42:
[32019696] Intake Turbo Inlet Hose (B207 Silicone) [PROPARTS]
Note 2: during the step 3 of the calibration, my car needed 35 seconds "until the RPMs fall down to the idle rpm"
