Better performance for Linear when changing fuels??

Hello,
When I bought my Linear, the salesman said that I only needed to buy 89 grade fuel. So for several months I've bought the midgrade at Marathon. Recently though, I bought Shell midgrade and thought the performance kicked up a notch. On the last tank, I filled up with the new Shell V-Power (91 or 93 octane) and thought the performance might have increased a skosh but not as much as the change in gas brands yielded me. Have other people noticed any difference in the Linears when using different types and/or grades of gas?
