But any Saab will run on 87. Premium out here in SoCal is only 91. I notice more power AND better mileage on premium. This isn't supposed to be the case as regular gas is supposed to have the same amount of energy (or more with less additives than premium occupying the volume) as premium, but it seems the Saab Trionic Engine Management can make the engine more efficient on higher octane in addition to getting you the full advertised horsepower and torque. That's why some more powerful Saabs get better mileage than identical less powerful ones. 9-5 SportWagons are an example of this.
I can feel the premium in my Saab turbos with a heavy foot.
