Engine Recall Policy

I called Saab Customer Service yesterday to get my name in their database for my '01 9-5 Aero and to find out about the service history of the car.
I found out that the car has had the 30 day, 10K, 20K, and 30K services. They have no information about any other oil changes outside major services. The only work done under warranty was the DIC replacement at 28K.
While I was at it, I asked them what their policy was on the sludge issue. They told me their current policy is that they will fix any problems that occur during the warranty period, providing that all the services were done. After the warranty expires, they said it would be on a case-by-case basis. I think this sucks. Why don't they treat us the same as the European market? Also, they won't pay to have the oil pan dropped to check for sludge. I think this would be the least they could do.
I don't think that I have sludge, but how would I know anyway?
Also, should I or shouldn't I have them do the PCV fix?
Thanks,
Charles
