The bit about inspectors.. Not something they have in Malaysian tracks. Just 2 dudes manning the place who'll rent you crappy scooter helmets for under $5. Its all kind of dodgy really... with other WRXs, Evolutions and Honda Integras all having a go at the same time. The cost is about $US 16 an hour.

But the guide is very useful. DIdnt think about removing the floor mats actually.

Wrt to the servicing, would hard track running imply that I would have to service the car sooner? I reckoned that the oil would be dirtiest post-track hence the asap replacement.

Spoke to the guy on the phone, apparently there are saw dust and sand traps should the car go off track and if that fails, a 3-layer wall of tyres. The last time i was at a track was in 2000 in a Mitsubishi Galant VR and understeer was the word of the day.

"Check EVERYTHING else, especially steering linkage, ball joints, control arms, wheel bearings" - are these self check items? or mechanic inspection is required?

Fyi.. im running on 16 in Yokohama AVS DB550s... they dont seem to have that on tirerack.com but let me assure you that they are superb tyres. very quiet and great in the wet. Huge improvement over the Goodyear Eagle NCT5s and Michelin PIlots i was running.

Do you guys keep the fuel tank near empty when doing track work? Makes the car lighter and frees up the rear end a bit.

As for taking corners, slow in fast out is the rule of thumb eh? Pity i dont have a manual.. would be so much more fun. Then again with the auto i can try this:

Very interesting vid. Highlights the differences in driving styles bet M Schumacher and others.
