You make some valid points for sure.

I did not want an overly harsh ride but I did want a sleeker look and better handling in the corners so I opted for a very light 18" rim and tires that have a softer than stock sidewall to go along with lower springs but stock shocks. Mission accomplished. My ride is still comfortable since the stiffness was not increased, only the center of gravity was lowered and the unsprung weight was reduced with the lightweight wheels. Sure the car would corner better with a super stiff tire and uprated shocks but I did not want to make too much of a concession in terms of comfort.

IMO it is a travesty that these cars are coming from the factory with such high levels of power delivered through the front wheels yet a LSD is not even available as an option. For me, wheel hop and torque steer are not an issue (let's not confuse with tramlining).

All of the stock parts I have replaced are kept in my basement. If there is an accident and the modified parts are damaged, simply put the stock parts back in the car. If the car is going to the body shop anyway, what's the difference? If the aftermarked parts are not damaged, who needs stock parts? If an accident does occur, the cost of the aftermarket parts would be lost. This is the only downside here but it seems a bit of a doomsday philosophy to worry about something like this. The FMIC is probably facing the highest level of risk in this regard. The mods we are talking about are DIY mods. A tech is not going to care if he has to remove/install a stock 2.25" exhuast or an aftermarket 3" exhaust. It's all the same in terms of install/uninstall.

Not to sound like a broken record here but 0-60 is not what it's all about. I could have bought an EVO or STi for the 30 grand I spent on my Aero but then I would have to deal with shoddy interior materials, tight interiors with sub-par ergonomics for my 6'4" frame, no stereo in the case of the STi. Plus I enjoy the modifications and the research and the learning experience. So I have a luxury car with lots of space for all 5 passengers, lots of amenities, a cockpit that fits me perfectly and a car that will hang with most 0-60 and destroy almost anything from 40-120. Handling could be a bit better but it holds very well in the corners once the line has been established. In my case, I am probably a bit twitchy over 80mph because of the suspension setup but again, I would rather have it this way than have an overly stiff ride.
