I leased a black 9-5 linear sedan with premium pkge in May 2002. MSRP was over 37K but cap cost was under 31K. Lease deal was for 3 year 10K miles/yr. Residual is just over 17K. If I could get a ARC wagon for about the same deal, I would probably reup for another 3 years, but the present deals don't seem to get the cap price near 31K.
Today, I received a call from Saab Financial wanting to know if I was turning in the car. I told them yes, and told them which dealer I would take the car to turn in. I tried to steer the conversation toward a possible buy out at a lower price, but they would not discuss any financial issues and referred me to the dealer.

I might be interested in buying the car, but I would want a lower price and/or extended warranty. Does that sound doable or would I be wasting my time at the dealership? Does the residual of 17K sound about right or is it too high? What is a fair deal for this car?
