The DI of the three 9000's that we have in our family all died between 120K and 160K miles.
No real difference between my car with 90% highway traffic and 2.3 LPT and my wife's car with 90% city traffic 2.3L non turbo. My dad's car is a 2.0L turbo with mixed driving. The cars are from 95, 92 and 88 so there doesn't seem to be a difference in reliablility between years.
Having three cars I have no problem with a failing DI because I can always call my wife or my dad to 'borrow' their DI to drive the car back,
take out the DI and pick up the other car. My dad's and my wife's DI failed gracefully by stuttering when accelerating, mine drove perfectly and died while being parked so it left me stranded in a parking lot (walking distance from home though...)
