Where to mount satellite radio in 9-5? Posted by IanC [Email] (#139) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IanC) on Tue, 14 Jun 2005 19:29:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm new to the 9-5 world and I'm wondering where to mount my satellite radio cradle. I have one of the first generation Sirius receivers by Audiovox, and I have a cradle in my other Saab and in the house so I would like to keep with the same unit I have now.
My first choice is in the corner of the dash on the driver's side. I think I can get the antenna there with minimal problems, but getting the power to that area will be tough. A trip to Radio Shack or Circuit City to see if there are extension power cables is definitely in my future.
The other choice is center dash, but there will still be cable routing issues. Mostly, everything will come up the front of the dash, unless I do something drastic (which I would definitely want to avoid).
Finally, there is a cell phone mounting "pod" which seems to offer a nice place to work. There may be some clearance issues with the cup holder, though.
I need to check and see if pro install is a possibility. I have a spare kit that I intend to use. Circuit City, where I bought the unit, doesn't stock any car kits for it anymore. I've found a few others, but I suspect when they're gone they're gone. Don't know if a store will install a kit not purchased at the store.
Thanks if you had the patience to readd all this!
