I've stumped the dealer -- rear vibration problem

I've had a vibration/wobble over 65 mph. It feels like you're going over washboard bumps, like a rear tire is hopping. It may stop for a few seconds then come back. Doesn't matter if you are in gear or not. The smoother the road the worse it is. I've only owned the car 6 weeks and didn't notice it when I test drove the car, but unfortunately also didn't go for more than a few miles on the interstate.
Its not the wheels or tires. The tires were balance with a Road Force system, then rebalance, then they calibrated the machine after each tire and rebalanced again. Still vibrates. I then took in my 16" wheels and had them mount and balance the same model tire. Even with a different set of wheels and tires it still vibrates.
I then took it to the Saab dealer who started by rebalanced the tires. Then they replaced the rear springs. They said they thought it felt slightly better. I drove it, but wasn't able to test it on a road surface I had driven before (rush hour traffic). BUT it definitely is still vibrating. The service manager, who has been very nice about it, said he's out of ideas. I feel for the guy. He's really trying, but my car still rides like it has one square tire. He said if they can't think of something tomorrow, may have to give me the car back as-is, but won't charge me ...not really the solution I had in mind. I meantioned wheel bearings and axle play but they said both were fine.
I called SaabUSA who said to hand back the car without being fixed is unacceptable. They can have a "level 2" tech put on the car. The next nearest dealer is about a 2 hour drive one way and we have a cross-country road trip planned in a week. Any thoughts or suggestions? Put pillows under our seats for the road trip?
