The "brake light failure" light comes on when the resistance is out of range in the circuit. It could be due to a number of things like a bulb burned out or a dirty socket. There are something like 5 small bulbs in the center light at the top of the window. You might want to check them. Be careful if you do, it is easy to break off one of the tabs that hold the cover on. I know, one side of mine was held on for more than a year by a paper clip.
The cam chain will normally out last the engine. Failures do sometimes occur but it is not one of the things I would put on your worry list. As to the belt horror stories and major engine rebuilds, that's a V-6 timing belt problem, when this goes, valves bump into pistons and things get expensive quickly. Had that happen on my previous car, an Alfa 164s to the tune of $5,000.
When the serpentine belt goes on the I-4, you lose your accessories (alternator, water pump and air conditioning). Hopefully you have sense enough to stop when you get an alternator light and the engine starts over heating. If you do, you need to worry about being stuck beside the road and needing a tow, but not a major engine rebuild. As far as the belt on your car is concerned, inspect the belt, listen for weird noises and if no problems are found, don't worry about it.
