tenuous steps int Saab ownership

I am considering the purchase of a 1999 turbocharged 9-5 with 85k miles for $7995. I have read mini sagas of the perils of Saab ownership and I am not entirely sanguine about my experience with the marque. I require a daily driver and prefer a modicum of performance. I know that aftermarket warranty coverage is an impossibilty for an oldish European car approaching 100K miles that has never offered bedrock reliability. On the other hand many Saab owners appear to be passionately loyal to the marque and often rave about the performance of the turbocharged engines. I dont expect perfection from a mechanical device but I don't want to driven to penury in my quest for relatively inexpensive performance. I am conflicted and humbly request guidance from the members and readers of Saabnet
