My wife and I are first-time Saab owners. But we've both driven Volvos for many years. Last January we bought her a 2001 9.5 Aero Sport-Wgn w/27,000 miles. We've had a minor and infrequent starting problem but have never owned a car which was so much fun to drive. All I've done is changed the oil, replaced one burned-out headlamp and put on new tires. Two months later, I totaled my Volvo and lusted after a car similar to my wife's. I located a 2001 9.5 2.3 lpt Sport-Wgn, dealer CPO, with 40,000 miles. I've put 5K on it and done nothing but change the wiper blades. Both cars have been very reliable, look vertually new, are economical to drive, 23/28mpg town/highway, and are lots of fun to drive. I know periodic preventive maintenance as recommended by Saab will be fairly pricy, particularly in coastal California, but I consider it a good investment as we will likely retain these cars for several years. Hope this perspective helps.
